S.W.I.B: Lesson 1

LESSON 1: Guard Your Heart (part 1)

Read Proverbs 4 vs. 23-26
Summary: Guarding your heart= Guarding your thoughts

Back in the 1900's it was about what size you could force your waist to be in a corset.
In the roaring 20's it was about how much leg you could show
Fast forward to the modern day and it's still pretty much about how you look
whether it's all about that bass or skinny being the new skinny.
Sex appeal is and always has been a driving force behind beauty.

But why not change that mindset? Why not change your thoughts, shift your focus?

Even if it's a small change, as woman we need to focus on the Lord.

Fear of the Lord, respect , deference, humility. Realizing who He is (as Ruler, Creator) and what He's done (bridging the divide between us by sacrificing His son for our sins) and remembering we are so very precious to Him. After all, He made man in His image, and us woman, from a part of man.

This is not to say, don't take care of yourself, or don't be kind but that what matters most in the eyes of God are that you honor Him, you make Him 1st before that other him in your life or even yourself. Just like last week's devotion said "Seek 1st the Kingdom of God (where you will find the King) and all things will be given to you.

And anything worth having in life is worth seeking. (Proverbial Girl devotion, YouVersion)
